Let's take care of our planet
The environmental campaign Every Bee Counts and Pocoyo offers simple tips to take care of the environment
World Earth Day is celebrated every April 22 as a tribute to our planet. It is a day to recognize the Earth as our home and to raise awareness about issues such as overpopulation, pollution, and the need for biodiversity conservation.
We can all help take care of our planet by following these tips:
- Sort your garbage. It is important to know what is recyclable, what is biodegradable, and what is not, to classify garbage properly at the time of disposal.
- Improve your transportation. Use a bicycle as a means of transportation. It is also advisable to use public transportation to avoid carbon emissions from private cars.
- Avoid plastic. Do not use disposable plastic bags, plates, or cutlery. As they are single-use objects, they are very polluting to the environment.
- Change light bulbs. Use LED and energy-saving bulbs to reduce energy consumption compared to traditional bulbs.
- Consume organic fruits. The production of organic fruits and vegetables does not use fertilizers or pesticides, which are polluting products.
- Unplug your appliances. If appliances are plugged in, they consume energy, even if they are turned off. That is why it is important to unplug them when you are not using them.
- Optimize water use. Turn off the faucet while brushing your teeth and washing your hands. Take a quick shower. If you have the opportunity, collect rainwater and use it.
- Plant a tree. Trees produce oxygen. If you don't have space at home, you can do it in your neighborhood. Small plants also produce oxygen, and flowering plants feed our bees, which pollinate more than 75% of our food.
- Use, reuse and recycle. Fashion is the second most polluting industry on the planet, so we should all be aware and not consume in excess. If you have clothes that you no longer wear and are in perfect condition, you can sell them. This way someone else will give it life and will have less need to continue increasing the demand for clothing.
The environmental campaign Every Bee Counts, led by the agency Avant-Garde RP, together with the adorable @Pocoyó, are making preparations for the First Every Bee Counts Forum, to be held in May 2021, on the occasion of World Bee Day.
